Join Melendy Britt and Alan Oppenheimer as they reflect on Masters of the Universe.

2pm - MOTU Comics and Mini-Comics Continuing the Tradition

Included with every MOTU figure from the original line, the Masters of the Universe mini-comics helped expand the lore behind the toys and character backstories, bringing the world of MOTU to life. Artists like Larry Houston helped create the visuals and even developed characters who would eventually become action figures. Now, with MOTU Origins, the tradition continues with Tony Washington creating visuals for MVCreations, and Joshua Sky writing the lore for Masters of the Universe in comics and mini-comics 40+ years later.

The beginnings of Masters of the Universe start with the design of the characters. Rebecca Taylor, Ken Coleman along with Scott Zillner and Rudy Obrero, recall how Mattel took amazing concept artwork and turned it into three kitbash figures from their Big Jim line, creating the iconic barbarian fantasy epic we love today.
